First step in troubleshooting GPS issues is making sure that you are using the latest version of the app, please open ‘Play store’ and update to the latest version. In some odd case, try uninstall then reinstall the app can help.
Ensuring that GPS is enabled on your device:
Setting Date and Time:
Make sure you have set correct date and time, as it can affect the accurate of data collect by the app. We recommend to use the automatically update option.
Managing Android Device Power Settings:
Please change your phone’s setting as below to help keep the app running and provide accurate data:

Access your phone settings -> Battery -> Power saving mode -> Battery Optimization -> Select Flare -> Don’t optimize -> Save.

Access Battery settings -> App Power Saving -> Details -> Flare -> Disabled

Turn Energy Settings to Normal and add Flare to ‘Protected Apps’

Access your phone settings -> Power Management -> Power Savers -> Battery Modes -> Smart-Saving Mode -> Turn off all saving mode

Tap on iManager -> Power Manager -> Select Normal mode

Access your phone settings -> Battery -> Power Saving Mode -> Turn off Power Saving Mode

Open "Phone assist" app or -> Tap on Eco. Mode -> Deactivate Eco. Mode
Lenovo
Access your phone settings -> Power Manager -> Battery Saver -> Turn Off Battery Saver mode -> In Power manager interface, tap Background app management -> Deselect Flare app -> In Power manager interface, turn off Ultimate Power Saver

Optimization settings
Recurring issues with tracking on Android devices running versions 6 and higher.
While this setting (Optimization) is active it may result in the application crashing or not tracking distance and therefore we’d like to encourage users to disable optimization for Flare if Enabled.
For ASUS devices - Android 6.0 and higher
1. From a Home screen, navigate: Apps icon > Settings > Battery.
2. Tap the Menu icon (located in the upper-right).
3. Tap Battery optimization.
4. Apps/services unable to be optimized appear grayed out.
5. Tap the "Not Optimized" drop down menu (located at the top).
6. Tap All apps.
7. Tap the Flare app, tap “Don't optimize” then tap Done
For Lenovo devices - Android 6.0 and higher
Tap the Flare app, tap “Don't optimize” then tap Done
For Samsung devices running Android 6 and higher
Please go to your phone settings –> Applications –> Select three dot menu (Top right corner) –> Select ‘Special Access’ –> Select ‘Optimize Battery usage’ – Find Flare on the list and make sure that it is not selected.
For Huawei devices running Android 6 and higher.
Please go to your phone settings -> Select 'Apps' - Select 'Advanced' (At the bottom) -> Select 'Ignore optimizations' - Press 'Allowed' and select 'All apps' - Find Flare on the list and set to 'Allow'
For HTC devices running Android 6 and higher.

Please go to your phone Settings -> Additional Settings -> Battery & performance -> Manage apps' battery usage - Choose apps and select Flare.
Also, please go to your phone Settings -> Additional Settings -> Privacy -> Location.
Check that you are using High Accuracy for Location Mode and also allowing location access.
Configure app so it can use GPS in background.
Sony devices running Android 6 and higher
Please go to your Phone settings -> Select ‘Battery’ -> Select the (...) menu in the top right corner and press ‘Battery optimization’ -> Select ‘Apps’ -> Select ‘Flare’.
LG devices running Android 6 or higher
Please go to your phone settings -> Battery & power saving – Select ‘Battery usage’ –> ‘Ignore optimizations’ –> Turn on to ignore battery optimization for Flare.
One Plus devices
Please go to your phone settings –> Select ‘Battery’ –> Select ‘Battery optimization’ -> switch to the ‘All apps list’ (Top menu) – Select ‘Flare’ and choose ‘Don’t optimize’.
Motorola devices running Android 6 or higher
Please go to your phone settings –> Select ‘Battery’ –> tap the menu in the top right corner () –> Select ‘Battery optimization’ – Tap ‘Not optimized’ and select ‘All Apps’ – Find Flare on this list and Select ‘Don’t Optimize’.
Other devices
There are many other smaller brand smart phones available that use Android, these settings may differ. If your device is not in our list, please try to locate a similar setting as mentioned for one of the brands above and apply it to fix the issue with faulty tracking or crashes of the Flare application.
Application permissions
To make sure that Flare has permission to use location on your device, please go to your Phone settings -> Apps -> Flare -> Permissions
